CAUGHT ON TAPE: Armed Sneaker Robbery in Cleveland

I was thinking of putting a foot note to this article, but really, this needs to be said before going into the details.

This MUST stop.  We can do better.

“We” is not just referring to the sneaker community and sneakerheads, but society as a whole.  A violent, armed, robbery in plain daylight just illustrates how much more we need to do as society.  This is truly a heartbreaking thing to watch, and all I can think of is how awfully terrorizing and scary it must have been for the victim.  Our thoughts are with him and his family.

If ANYONE knows ANYTHING or recognizes ANYONE, it is your duty as a human being to contact authorities.  No neighborhood is safe and no city can remain calm with attacks like these.  You’re urged to call Cleveland Police at (216) 623-5464.

One of the assailants appears to be wearing metallic gold sneakers.

FULL STORY:

Horrifying video captured a Cleveland armed robbery, where it appears two men assaulted a man at gunpoint as he struggled for his life.

WARNING: Though the video in the player above has been edited due to its graphic nature, some may still find the images disturbing.

The video was taken at the corner of East 93rd Street and Union Avenue on Friday. [MAP]

In the video, you can see two men attacking a man, hitting him and throwing him to the ground.

One of the men pulls a gun and begins to strike the victim with it before attempting to shoot him in the legs twice.

The man is able to get away and run from the scene.

The suspects in the video appear to steal two Foot Locker shopping bags and the man’s wallet before fleeing down Union Avenue.

The incident caused E Prep & Village Prep Woodland Hills Campus to be placed on lockdown for about 15 minutes, their communications director confirms to newsnet5.com.

Cleveland Police said there was not report of a shooting victim.

If you have any information about the attack or can help identify the suspects, you’re urged to call Cleveland Police at (216) 623-5464.

=========================

A motive is not known, but frankly it does not matter.  Whether or not this was an attempt to steal someone’s shoes or otherwise, these violent attacks need to stop.

Once again, our thoughts are with the victim and his family.
